The concept is "barter" - The first solo exhibition by sculptor Taketo Masui will be presented

Hender Scheme is a brand that has always been creative and experimental with a deep and thoughtful approach, which is expressed not only in its products but also in its stores and collaborative work, and they just announced that a new alternative space ‘Sukima’ will be opened in Kuramae, Tokyo.

The space ’Sukima' (meaning gap), which will open on 4 June, is explained as a gallery for art exhibitions and an open space for various projects, but with the concept of "bartering".

'Sukima' trades the gallery space and the value of each artist without using any currency, and sees that “gap" as a "conceptual barter” that set the channel of value to something other than money.

More specifically, the contract between the artist and the gallery will be released on the ‘Sukima' website, and it aims to create a space for the artist, the visitors and the gallery to exchange their thoughts. At this stage, it's still a bit complicated, but once it opens, the whole idea and approach will probably be more precise.

The first exhibition, ‘NOW', by sculptor Taketo Masui, will be showcased from 4 to 12 June 2022, with others planned followed by, including German-based painter Tenki Hiramatsu, contemporary calligraphy artist Daichiro Shinjo, internationally-renowned NY- and Tokyo-based artist Enrico Isamu Oyama and architect Daisuke Motoki, who runs DDAA/DAA LAB.

The space is likely to be a promising new approach to fashion and art.
