Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO held its S/S 2023 show at Men's Paris Fashion Week.
For this season, the collection was presented with the theme of "SUPERFICIAL YOU...". As the word "superficial" implies, items with gimmicks such as trompe l'oeil technique overlaid with transfer printing of vintage clothing and some parts fixed intentionally on garments were showcased.
Ideas of "superficial lies", such as Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO's signature style of layering and panelling, as well as aged and distressed finishes and handmade-style prints, were incorporated overall into the denim, military and other workwear.
The collection features many details from vintage clothing from the 1950s-70s, and faithfully reproduces those sun damage, creases and frayed threads.
Also, a new model of footwear, the “GEORGE”, based on running shoes that were popular in the late 1980s and 1990s, was introduced.
This show was the brand's first runway in Paris since the Covid-19 pandemic, and "Keikoma-mama", who has become a familiar face over the past few seasons, made another appearance in the video. It’s very much in the Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO style, with a sense of humour and wit, so if you missed it, be sure to check it out.
