Both linked with "Y"? Players will wear them for three games in September

The Yomiuri Giants, the longest-running and most popular professional baseball team in Japan, and Yohji Yamamoto have unexpectedly collaborated this time. They have teamed up to create the official player uniforms that will be worn during the three straight games against the Yokohama DeNA Bay Stars at Tokyo Dome from 6 to 8 September.

With the keyword of black, which symbolises Yohji Yamamoto, it incorporates a jet-black design rather than the traditional Giants colors for this time. The signature logo of Yohji Yamamoto is embroidered making it even more special. This is the first time in NPB history that a designer brand's logo has been used on official uniforms.

The official uniforms are produced by MIZUNO and the caps by New Era®, both are the official supplier.

The players will only wear them for three games, but the special website opened on 5 July and the order of a special merch box including the official player's cap, uniform and not-for-sale helmet stickers has also started.

This is a surprising collaboration between a popular Japanese baseball team and a designer brand, but YOMIURI and Yohji Yamamoto are both linked to 'Y’. This collaboration also gives a sense of a strange coincidence.
