Launching globally on 20 July
Yohji Yamamoto Ltd. will launch a new project "WILDSIDE YOHJI YAMAMOTO" on its online platform on 20 July.
The project will release items ranging from fashion and art to interior and lifestyle, in collaboration with various brands and artists, using black as its concept color, which is the symbolic colour of Yohji Yamamoto Ltd..
The first collection features collaborations with five popular Japanese brands: Needles, NOMA t.d., HYSTERIC GLAMOUR, AMBUSH and MINEDENIM.
WILDSIDE YOHJI YAMAMOTO, which will be also launched as an original brand from this project, reconstructs elements extracted from the essence of YOHJI YAMAMOTO with a casual style and incorporates them into the details, with the keywords of military, work and sports.
Also, the project also introduces collaborations with galleries and artists closely linked to YOHJI YAMAMOTO. From AKIO NAGASAWA Gallery, photographs of Tadao Ando's architecture taken by photographer TAKAY, and from Taka Ishii Gallery, “Tights", a representative work by photographer Daido Moriyama, as well as drawings by painter Tomoo Gokita will be presented. In addition, a special one-of-a-kind painting by contemporary artist Amano Takeru, exclusively painted for this project, will soon be released.
Alongside 'Fashion' and 'Art', the official website also features ‘Content' category, which includes a variety of content such as interviews with collaborating brands and creators. It will start off with interviews with MINEDENIM director and stylist Tsuyoshi Noguchi, “POGGY” working on the project as a curator, and designers from Needles and NOMA t.d., as well as the column contributed by editor and journalist Masafumi Suzuki.
WILDSIDE YOHJI YAMAMOTO plans to open a physical store in Japan in autumn 2022, but let's wait for the launch of the official website for now.
