Another solo exhibition will be also held at Spiral Garden in Omotesando, Tokyo

Contemporary artist Yuya Hashimoto's solo exhibition 'eyewater -everybody feels the same' will be held at the Yutaka Kikutake Gallery in Roppongi, Tokyo from August 20 until September 17.

This will be the second solo exhibition by the artist and it will feature seven new paintings (*Only 'Henna Vender' will be exhibiting on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 September).

The series of works "eyewater", which depicts a portrait capturing the moment of a single tear falling down with a single colored background, is a style that Yuya Hashizume has been working on since his early days, and is the main theme of this solo exhibition as well.

He references the style of manga from the high economic growth times and the narrative that future was created in those manga, and expresses through tearful human figures whether a future that no one can imagine exists today, when the future is technologically easier to see than ever before, and if so, what kind of stories are possible there.

The new works showcasing this time also directly question what we have to talk about in this modern age, on the themes of life, war, peace, the environment.

"Eyewater", which is often painted in a composition facing slightly to the side, but the new works are composed with the people facing front and the visitors, echoing the subtitle of the solo exhibition, "everybody feels the same".

Also, another solo exhibition, 'eyewater', will be held at Spiral Garden in Omotesando from 2 to until 11 September. By visiting the two exhibitions, visitors will be able to feel the questions that Hashizume raises through his work.
